FREDERIC BOREY

Bordeaux, France's saxophonist and composer, Frederic Borey began to learn classical music at the age of eight.  After many conservatory studies (Nancy, Paris, Besancon), he obtained his "Pedagogy Saxophone DE" in 1990, and his "Pedagogy Saxophone CA" in 1992.  In 1993 Frederic took up jazz.  At first, the music and the pedagogy of Jerry Bergonzi were his principle motivations. Enthused at teaching jazz, Frederic obtained his "Pedagogy Jazz CA" in 2003.  He is the coordinator of the Jazz Conservatory's Department of Chalon/Saone .  He also created and coordinates the Jazz Conservatory's Department of Belfort, and also became a teacher at the Didier Lockwood Music Center.  He signed with the Fresh Sound New Talent label ("Maria 2007 and "Lines" 2010), this last project beineg with the company of Camelia BenNaceur (piano), Nolwenn Leizour (doublebass), and Stefano Lucchini (drums).  He also co-created UNITRIO with Damien Argentieri (Hammond organ) and Alain Tissot (drums) and signed with the Altrisuoni label.  Frederic is a member of the Roger Biwandu Quintet, the Jazz Ensemble "Convergnece" of Daniel Casimir, the Jean Marc Brisson Septet, and has participated as sideman in many other projects next to Lionel Loueke, Billy Cobham, Olivier Gatto, Francois Theberge, Didier Levallet (ONJ), Benjamin Henoq, Zool Fleisher, Denis Leloup, Michael Felberbaum, Michel Benita, Andrea Michelutti and Pierre Drevet.  He also has participated in several sessions with personalities such as Jerry Bergonzi, Ravi Coltrane, Rick Margitza, Antonio Farao, Franck Amsallem, Dre Pallemaerts, John Betsh, Jacky Terrasson, Eric Harland, and Benjamin Henoq.  Frederic currently resides in Bordeaux since 2008.
