Vastine Pettis started playing saxophone at the age of eleven, playing professionally at the age of fourteen.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in music in 1985. Vastine played in various venues in and around Pittsburgh, enjoying enough popularity there to move to New York in 1987.  There he joined Acid Jazz vibraphonist Roy Ayers for a two year stint traveling the US, Europe and the Caribbean, playing the jazz festival circuit. Vastine recorded two CDs, one with funk legend Rick James, and the other with the famed Ronnie Scotts in London.  He then traveled to Japan for a year with many famous Japanese artists and recorded a CD of Pink Lady songs. Vastine continued his journey to Hong Kong in 1992, playing the popular JJ's Nightclub at the Grand Hyatt.  He was convinced that he needed to stay in Hong Kong after meeting several prominent Chinese entertainers, and soon became the highly sought after studio and concert musician. Vastine has played and recorded with just about every top Hong Kong and Taiwan star including Jacky Cheung, Jacky Chan, Emil Chau, Co Co Lee, Alex To, Roman Tam, Leon Lai, Andy Lau, Jonathan Lee, Elva, Sandy Lam, So Wing Hong, George Lam, Maria Cordero, Eliza Chan and many more.  Just a mention of the name Vastine "Wink" Pettis in Hong Kong will get an instant response within the music community.  He then moved to Shanghai in 2004 to take advantage of the growing music market in China, and has performed at the most popular live venues all over China and Shanghai, including Park 97 and the Spot. Vastine has also done corporate sponsored events for Mercedes Benz, Chivas Regal, 555 Cigarettes and Millionaires Fair.  He is adept at vocals and saxophone and has lent his voice to many television advertisements including Hennessey Cognac, Blue Girl Beer, Daikin Air Conditioners, Pacific Place, Mall of Hong Kong, TVB Television ID and many more! Vastine currently makes his home in Shanghai.
